I was just sent this You Tube link ('Bedankt Tante Mieke!') showing the official arrival of Sinterklaas in The Netherlands last week. The video is a bit long (I didn't watch the whole thing either) but just click through it a bit.
This is the most typical Dutch event you will ever come across... {smile}

Leuk hoor, je blog zo!
ReplyDeleteOh, I used to love celebrating Sinterklaas! And I even remember some of the songs. Give me enough to drink and I'll start singing them to you :)
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I love the dance with the two guys - presenter & mayor?? Very funny! Interesting too, I love other countries Christmas festivities. xx
ReplyDeleteI remember Nicholaus coming to my home when I was a little girl. For some reason he seemed so familiar even though he had a beard and long red robe.. Then I recognized the shoes!!!! It was Opa!!! My grandfather LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteStay warm!!
Chris :o)
I like the look of the Dutch Sinterklaas. There's a bit of King Neptune about him!
ReplyDeleteWat ziet je blog er mooi uit, geweldig met die oude foto's! Mijn complimenten! En ja, we hebben een nieuwe he, de oude is met pensioen... Leuk om te zien!
