No. 123 The Bebe Dress...

Let me present to you my latest creation: The Bebe Dress!

I had originally already cut out a different pattern from a different fabric, but just couldn't get going on it. Then I came across this pattern at a local fabric shop (Ben Franklin) and just really liked the different lines and options in it so I actually bought it. ($12, very expensive for a pattern I think) I used fabrics that I've had for donkeys' years and there you have it, another tunic- like dress.

I have to admit that I haven't really worn it yet (I finished it just now) so I am not completed confident about it yet, but hopefully that will still come. <wink>

I guess now I'll have to start on that other one...

Finally Fall!

After 84 days of no measurable rainfall, the rain has arrived and with it all the Fall colors.

Inside it is nice and cozy. Miss M. is baking brownies with orange frosting and after that we will decorate a little bit for the Fall season. Not my personal favorite to be honest but somewhat fun nevertheless...

Master C. is doing some homework (I hope) and Mr. G. is spending his second day in a row at Century Link Football Stadium in Seattle. His brother from Portland is in town: yesterday they watched the Huskies play (college team) and today the Seahawks (Seattle's professional team) is on the field. (and they won by 1 point!!!)

I ran two days in a row (this morning the scheduled 15 minutes plus another 6 minutes on top of that!) and now my legs are tired...  (a bit like the skeleton above)  <wink>

Senior Night...

A couple of days ago, Master C.'s Cross-Country Team celebrated Senior Night. This is where all the senior runners get honored by the coach with a speech and flowers and cake and applause. Lots of fun!

It was a very emotional event for everybody involved. (I had already warned the family that bawling might be involved.) But it was not only me who had wet eyes, the coach completely choked up especially when it was Master C.'s turn, which of course didn't help me contain my tears...

It is difficult to stand in front of quite an audience and your coach next to your side being all emotional etc.  but Master C. remained cool and collected throughout the whole speech and I was So Proud!!!  {big smile}

When did I become the shortest member of the family? Oh yeah, way back when...
(I'm 1.74m / 69 inches so not really what you call short...)
Cross-Country season isn't quite over yet. We have some big championships coming up in the next two or three weeks and everybody is improving every single race. Great team, great coach and great parents: what more can you ask for?!  <wink>

The Apple And The Tree Etc.

Ever since my wonderful sister gave me a real camera (Canon Rebel T1i) a year and a half ago, my Miss M. (now 15 1/2) has been developing a keen eye for photography. Once in a while I let her borrow my camera and off she goes exploring. I love what I'm seeing...

Our lovely neighbor with her new dog Bodi...
The Proverbial Apple!
(oh no, it's a tomato!!!)
At the river...
Mr. G.'s favorite pastime!

And not only does the apple not fall far from my tree, it also doesn't fall far from Mr. G.'s tree!

Fly Fishing with dad...
What a gal!  {smile}

Eagles!

Yesterday we had not one but two pairs of Bald Eagles flying right over our back yard! Unfortunately, by the time I had grabbed my camera, they were flying over the ridge a bit further away, but I still managed to snap some pictures. We hadn't seen any Eagles for months now so hopefully they will be here to stay from now until the Spring...

In the mean time, we're still enjoying the most wonderful temperatures. Just look at Olive's big smile!

De Morgenstond Heeft Goud in de Mond...

7:30 am

Officially the English saying would be 'the early bird catches the worm', but if you would translate the Dutch it would say: the early morning rise has gold in the mouth.  I think in Swedish it goes something like this: Morgonstunnen har guld i munnen! That fits much better don't you think?  {smile}

This morning my alarm went off at 5:45 am. I had to drive Master C. to his final SAT test (5 hour college entrance exam) and he had to be there very early. Luckily I had brought my camera because just look at all this glory!!!

Tolt River Road over the Snoqualmie River
And if all this wasn't beautiful enough, I came across this final picture: the road was ablaze with smoke from a wood fire (some houses here still only have a wood stove for heating!) in the early morning sun and fog mixture: amazing!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!  {smile}

Indian Summer Beauties...

Small miracles can feel soooo big...

Enjoy!

And yes, the garden sprinkler system is still working overtime. No rain in over 76 days, all records have been broken! And I am not complaining...  <wink>

PS I've added some more items to the header. Can you spot them?

Halloween Fun...

Just a very short post to make you aware of some Halloween photo-editing features that are now available at  PicMonkey. (for free!)

To be honest, I really dislike the whole Halloween thing; it is just not my thing. But, I had a great time playing around with all the effects!

Go and give it try. You know you want to!  <wink>

Call The Midwife!

Musings and Adventures of a Pinup Mama

No, don't worry, I'm not pregnant! <wink>

Borrowed from the internet...
I did just watch the first episode of the BBC series called 'Call the Midwife' and I thought it was fabulous!!!!

I think this series already came out in Europe at the beginning of the year, but here in the States we always lag behind a bit when it comes to these marvelous productions. If you haven't seen it yet, go find it now! I laughed and cried at the same time and I haven't even mentioned the fabulous vintage clothing and fabrics yet: Yay! for another fab BBC production!  {smile}

(And Yay! for modern medicine, because boy, those times were rough, to say the least...)

Joe Jackson Live...

Please excuse the blurriness: pic made with phone...

Wow, what a wonderful evening out we had last night at The Moore Theatre in Seattle: we saw Joe Jackson (and his band) live on stage and it was fabulous!  {smile}

Remember his songs from the 80's?
"Is she really going out with him?" ('78), "Don't you know that it's different for girls" ('79), "Steppin' Out" ('82), "Breaking us in two" ('82) and "Be my number two" ('84) and lots more of course.

Last Spring, as we were waiting for Elvis Costello to perform, Mr. G. and I were saying to each other that we would love to see Joe Jackson live sometime and lo and behold, one week later his concert for October was announced!
His voice was super strong and he was belting it out like the old days. Of course his piano playing was superb and his band was just Wow! I especially liked the performance of Allison Cornell. She played the keyboards, violin, banjo and her singing was just Wow! again. Really impressive. (she is all the way on the right in the picture below)

Yes, Joe is playing the Accordion and the bass player is playing a Tuba!

So yes, it was a wonderful evening out and that in the middle of the week!

Today I have my annual mammogram to do and tomorrow I have to see my periodontist. (dentist for the gums) Last week I had the orthodontist and my annual check up at the doctor's so hopefully I will be done for a while...

I will leave you with a picture of the still glorious weather we're having over here. Just look at all this blue sky!!!

A bit chilly though this morning (33F = 0 C!) so I will have to wait for it to warm up before I head out for my run...

And Then There Were Two...
