Road Trippin'....

Since we are in the middle of a school break, we thought we'd better do something that actually resembles a vacation activity: road trippin'!!!  {smile}

We packed some drinks and snacks, picked up a friend and off we went to see Whidbey Island. We started in the North (Deception Pass) and ended up taken the ferry off at the southern tip of the island back to Mukilteo.

The weather wasn't great when we set off and it got gradually worse during the day... So not the best circumstances to put it mildly, but we had a great time anyway.

Between Miss M. and myself we took 150 pictures (we both love anything to do with open water!) and here is a small collection of our impressions. What you can't see on these pictures was the howling wind and very cold temperatures so just keep that in the back of your mind while looking at them...

  6. Glad you liked the pictures on my blog! And how lucky that you wrote, then I realized that you asked about the recipe for "Semlor"! Here it is:

    Smält 75g margarin, tillsätt 5dl mjölk och värm till 37grader. Dela 50g jäst i en bunke och rör ut tillsammans med degspadet. Tillsätt ½tsk salt, 1dl socker, 1 ägg och 14-15dl vetemjöl. Arbeta degen tills den blir blank och smidig. Jäs under bakduk i 30 min. Forma ca 10 bullar och jäs dem sedan under bakduk i 20 min. Grädda i mitten av ugnen i ca 15 min. Låt svalna på galler. Skär av locket på varje bulle. Ta ur en del av inkråmet med en gaffel. Smula sönder det i en skål. Blanda med 200g riven mandelmassa. Tillsätt 1dl mjölk och rör till en ganska lös smet. Fördela fyllningen i bullarna. Vispa 2dl grädde och lägg en klick i varje bulle. Lägg på locken och sikta lite florsocker över semlorna.
