Frosty Morn', Part Deux...

Again very cold but bright outside this morning. Here a few more impressions...

I'm keeping busy with a new knitting project, which I will take with me tonight for the knitters' circle at Tolt Yarn & Wool. Karen Templer from Fringe Association will be visiting!

Frosty Morn'!

Brrrr, very chilly this morning: 20F / -7C! Bright blue skies already and lots of sunshine so I think I will go on a little walk this morning before I have to visit my periodontist... (dentist for the gums)

And a lovely memory of summer...

I have so much more to tell you, but I will just post this one picture for the moment. May I present to you my proudest moment yet: the Maren Cardigan!

PS: Plus today we woke up to 32 F / 0 C so perfect timing, Maren is keeping me warm already!

Some Recent Makes In The Making...

Ha yes, only five minutes ago this came off of my needles: the Icelandic Maren Sweater, soon to become a Cardigan!  (by cutting it open in the front: yaiks!)

Love this ribbing detail on the sleeve.
The colorwork in the round was a bit of a pain but so worth it...

This has been such a wonderful knit up so far. I've used Lett Lopi yarn straight from Iceland (via my trusty wool store Tolt Yarn & Wool). I was rather hesitant to use this wool because of its scratchiness but so far it has been wonderful! Tonight I will wash it with shampoo and then rinse it with conditioner (once a hairdresser, always a hairdresser...) <wink> as per Ragga's recommendation and then the steeking will commence! I will keep you posted on the progress...

In between things I've also sewn this little skirt that you see above. I've used this pattern many times in the past since it is a quick and fun sew-up. I bought the flower fabric in Amersfoort last September. A bit of much needed color in this dreary weather we're having...

I'm also working on this little Dachshund pattern from Purl Soho, but I haven't gotten very far with it yet...

Just So...

I don't really have a lot to say at the moment, but wanted to share these pics of last Friday with you. ..

We are in the middle of Fall here (not like in The Netherlands where they are experiencing the warmest temperatures for this time of year ever!), the rain seems to be never ending over here...

Fortunately when I arrived at Little Bit that afternoon, we had a short dry spell and we were able to enjoy the outdoors with our rider. Afterwards she helped me brush the horse. So wonderful to see that bond between rider and animal...

The Morning After...

We had a crazy wind storm coming through last night! The winds were howling around the house and the garden furniture was flying around the yard. 

Miss M. was visiting friends and we decided that she'd better spent the night over there rather then drive home. Good thing too since several roads were blocked by fallen trees! At one point around 150.000 people were without power, not us thankfully...

This morning everything is really fresh and bright outside, a great time to take some pics... (and do a lot of yard work to clean up the mess!)

Fall Weekend...

Last weekend Mr. G. and myself went on a little road trip to visit Master C. at his university in Spokane, WA. (Gonzaga) I guess I'm becoming a true American now when thinking that four and a half hours one way is perfectly fine for only one overnight...

The views on the way through Eastern Washington were simply stunning. You can find more of my pics on Instagram, but here are a few anyway...

Our only reason to drive all this way was of course to see Master C. Here is a happy momma with her son:

On our way back (oh boy was it hard to say goodbye for 5 weeks again!) we stopped by the Columbia Gorge, a great place to take a selfie! <wink>

I'm also glad to report that I have finally gotten over that dreadful cold and am back on active 'duty' at Little Bit, managed to get a short run in and went to my third yoga class this week. Yay, let the energy flow!

Maren Update...

Can I just go for the record here and tell you that I am in love with my new Maren sweater/ cardigan! {smile}

I'm on day 8 of being sick (and being sick of it too!) so have had quite a bit of time to do some work on this Craftsy knitting project. Yesterday I joined the front to the back of the body and off we go, racing down to the bottom hem.

Last week Wednesday I woke up with a sore throat (no forewarning no nothing) and whammo, down for the count. Today is the first day that I'm truly feeling that I'm on the road to recovery, but man, it is so slow... No energy to be found. Just a cold for crying out loud! (ok, I'm truly rambling now)

Anyway, it has also been kind of nice just hanging around at home with nothing on the agenda, since I had to cancel all my volunteering and my newly found yoga class. I've been fiddling with a new header for the blog, done some knitting, did some lounging in front of the tv, did some rearranging in the front living room. (we have a house with two living rooms...) etc. Nesting while waiting for the looming darker days of Fall and Winter...

And yes, I made the Dutch map in the background.

We did stop by the Pumpking Patch with Miss M.last week sometime. The weather was gorgeous and Miss M. so enjoys a visit to the pumpkin patch. Can you believe this will have been the last time we have done this together? (next year she will be off to university)

In a couple of days Mr. G. and I will be off for an overnight trip to Spokane to visit with Master C. I haven't seen him for almost two months and waiting until Thanksgiving is just too long. So looking forward to seeing him again!  {smile}
