Karlson Hus = Dream House

Just look at all these gorgeous dream houses,
 I want them all!
My most favorite is the Glasmastare Villa but I love the yellow ones as well.
(and the others too of course that I've posted here)

I haven't read up on them that well but I understand they are all built in parts in the factory and then put on a slab.
I also think their methods are green so what's not to like? (only that it is all the way in Sweden...)

Sigtuna

The red Glasmastarevillan looks a bit like the house we used to live when we lived in Sigtuna don't you think?
I haven't found a good picture of the front of the house (in the early 90's we didn't have a digital camera yet so I now have to look through all our old photo albums...) but here at least you get the picture so to speak.
We even had a sauna in the basement!
I think it is my most favorite house that I've ever lived in so far, although the one in Indianapolis comes a close second.
The only 'bad' thing was that it was situated on the campus  of a boarding school (Sigtuna Skolan Humanistiska Laroverket for those in the know) and so we always had lots of students and staff in the area...

Quilt...

Good Morning Everyone!
(it is 6:57am over here)

After my binge-listening at You Tube last night I actually slept very well.

I watched the weather forecast this morning though and for the next 6 days they are forecasting
rain, rain and more rain!

I am determined to not drown in it so I have to
do and make stuff!

The picture of this Quilt on Benita's blog (http://chezlarsson.typepad.com/myblog/)
took my breath away and now I'm starting on my quest to find fabrics like that for a quilt in our new grey-themed bedroom...

坂本龍一(Ryuichi Sakamoto) Merry Christmas,Mr Lawrence

A dream come true: we saw him live in concert only a few months ago. We sat in the second row!!!!
My all time most favorite song...

Annie Lennox A THOUSAND BEAUTIFUL THINGS (acoustic)

OK, one last song before bed time...

Jacques Brel - Voir un ami pleurer

From Herman van Veen to Jacques Brel, an easy step. This song always makes me cry, but crying is good once in a while...

Herman van Veen - Laat me

I'm having a 'You Tube' evening. Please enjoy the Dutch singer Herman van Veen...

Lisa Nilsson - Säg det igen (live, Paris, 2008)

I used to listen to Lisa Nilsson when I lived in Sweden (she was just a new singer then in the early 90's) and I am so happy to see and hear that she has become a true singer: what an absolutely wonderful song!

What a mess...

Well, we had tons of snow coming down last night, but whilst sleeping I noticed that the temperatures were going up instead of down.
(we have one of those cool clocks that projects both the time and the outside temperature on our ceiling)

At 3am I woke up to rain coming down on our skylights.

At 5am we received the call from school that we wouldn't start until 9:30 so that was a nice sleep-in for our kids. (and husband!)

The local schools somehow decided to close down for the day, but since my kids don't go to the local school, they had to leave about half an hour ago, all grumpy about that of course.

The roads are only super slushy on the side streets, the main roads are just fine.
The local school district is now probably wondering why they closed down for the day.
The bad thing for them is that they will have to make up this missed school day at the end of the school year!

In the mean time I'm enjoying the morning still in my pj's.
What shall I do today?
Unfortunately M. forgot her Basketball uniform for the photo shoot today so I will have to drop that by later this afternoon and then wait for an hour until she is done with her practice.
Such is life...

I'll leave you with two pictures that G. took of a bald eagle that he spotted on his walk a couple of days ago.
 Well, whatdoyouknow?
I can't find them!

Instead I'll show you a golden oldie from 1999 from our house in Sri Lanka.
G. is mowing the grass there in tall boots because of all the nasty biting ants (and snakes!) we had lurking around!
Yes, it was a very nice looking house, but remember, we had NO AIRCONDITIONING!!! (and we went days without power, but I might leave that for another post)

Snow finally...

Yesterday the mountains only had snow.
I thought they looked a bit like a quilt!

We'd been waiting for it all day, but now the snow is finally here in the lowlands as well and it is coming down at a good clip too!
A warm front is supposed to follow it pretty soon, but I think over here in the foothills we should have snow at least through mid morning.
I'll let you know what it looks like then!
M. and her neighbor friend are enjoying the late evening outing...

More Earth Shaking...

(copied from the Seattle Times) "Seahawks fans literally shook the Earth in their elation over Saturday's upset of the New Orleans Saints.
During the game's pivotal play — Marshawn Lynch's 67-yard touchdown run — the crowd of 66,336 cheered and jumped and stomped so vigorously that the vibrations registered like a small earthquake on a nearby seismometer."

"Wow!" I say...

And Then There Were Two...
