The Setting of The Shoe...

My shoe is the dirty one in the middle.
I actually still wear mine once in a while...
(and yes, it is the smallest one: size 40 EU or 9 US)
Yes, the time had come for the first  'Setting Of The Shoe!' (= literal translation)

Normally you add a carrot and some hay for Sinterklaas' horse (who walks on the roof!) and sing a few Sinterklaas songs ("Sinterklaas Kapoentje", "Zie de maan schijnt door de bomen" etc), but the kids didn't come home until  9pm last night (they left the house at 6:45am!) and they still had tons of homework to do, so we had to go with empty 'klompen' (= wooden shoes) this time.

Sinterklaas didn't seem to mind because the shoes were filled this morning! They each got one of these:

It is a rice-filled neck warmer, you know, one of those that you put in the microwave. I , I mean The Sint, used that fun Michael Miller fabric.

While I was at it at the sewing machine, I also whipped up my first ever 'wrist-worms'.  These are apparently very popular at the moment and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Very comfy and warm I must say!

The fabric itself  (old sweat pants material) could have been a bit softer and stretchier so I will remember that for the next time.

At least they will keep me warm at Little Bit today, because Baby It Is Cold Outside!  <wink>

PS 1: Monica, you asked how I find the time for all this craftiness. Yesterday I spent 14 hours by myself at home so plenty of time to make something!

PS 2: The Washi Tape Strips I used with the top photo came from Letterpost's Sinterklaas wrapping paper...
