Sinterklaas's Arrival in Dordrecht 2011...

I was just sent this You Tube link ('Bedankt Tante Mieke!') showing the official arrival of Sinterklaas in The Netherlands last week. The video is a bit long (I didn't watch the whole thing either) but just click through it a bit.

This is the most typical Dutch event you will ever come across...  {smile}

  1. Oh, I used to love celebrating Sinterklaas! And I even remember some of the songs. Give me enough to drink and I'll start singing them to you :)

  3. I remember Nicholaus coming to my home when I was a little girl. For some reason he seemed so familiar even though he had a beard and long red robe.. Then I recognized the shoes!!!! It was Opa!!! My grandfather LOL!!!
    Stay warm!!

  4. I like the look of the Dutch Sinterklaas. There's a bit of King Neptune about him!
