April doet wat-ie wil...

Translation: "April does what it wants"
So this morning we woke up to snow flakes coming down, then we had some nice sunny spells and then all of a sudden we were in the middle of a hail storm!

Now we have bright blue skies again so outside we go, back to the mud:

Here you can see how G. is building a so called French Drain underneath the grass. (on the right side of the main picture)

First he dug a sloping channel, lined it with rocks, added a hose with a 'sock' around it to filter out the fine sand, added a weed barrier around it and now will close the gap again and seed new grass over the rest of the area.

Our garden is in an old river bed and the water table level is always very high. Most of our yard looks beautiful but is in actuality a swamp, especially with this ridiculously wet & cold season we're experiencing...
We've dug a French Drain in other areas of the yard (underneath the fire pit and around the patio) and it worked really well, so hopefully the same will happen here...

  1. I hope that your French drain will work, and that it will stop raining where you live!

  2. Het lijken wel alle seizoenen in één maand.
Een heel gedoe die drain, maar als het werkt, zeker de moeite waard.
    Fijne week, groetjes
